Megyn Kelly did initially challenge Donald Trump head on unlike many other journalists in the ‘Liberal Media’ and elsewhere. Megyn’s video piece includes a clip where Ted Cruz’s statement on the media then is what is precisely playing out now in the national news media.
Fox News Megyn Kelly calls out press on Trump coverage
Fox News Megyn Kelly & her panel lambasted the press for their late coverage of Trump scandals they always knew about but held back for clicks and ratings. After Kelly had challenged Trump at a GOP primary debate, her wings seemed a bit clipped as it was apparent that calling out Donald Trump wasn’t then the position of her network, Fox News.
“Why didn’t they do it back in August of 2015,” Kelly asked. “It was highlighted by a debate question seen around the world. Where was the AP in August or September of 2015? … Why it’s not until October, thirty, whatever it was, days before the election, that they come out with it.”
Kelly then played a prescient piece from Ted Cruz.
“Frankly, the media wants Donald to be the nominee,” Ted Cruz said. “It is because the media knows Donald cannot win the general. Hillary would wallop him. All the attacks on Donald that the media is not talking about now, you better believe comes September, October, November if he were the nominee, every day on the nightly news would be taking Donald apart. I can’t tell you how many media outlets I hear have this great expose on Donald, on different aspects of his business dealings or his past, they say, ‘You know what? We are going to hold it until June or July. We are not going to run it now.”
Kelly’s panelist followed up.
“The reality here is the press rode the wave of Donald Trump clicks and coverage and celebrity and did all of this stuff,” Chris said. “And I think Cruz is very right about this. Now it’s serious. Now it’s October. Now this is a person who many in the press and many in the mainstream say he is totally unacceptable. So they are just starting to unload on him. And it’s not going to end until the election.”
Megyn Kelly got this one right. Maybe she should relay the message to Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly.
