Kellyanne Conway got extremely upset when CNN’s Jake Tapper called out Trump for appeasing racists and anti-Semites in his midst. But Tapper did not back down. The did what journalists are supposed to do.
Kellyanne Conway goes ballistic
Jake Tapper challenged Kellyanne Conway by playing a clip with a Trump supporter chanting at reporters the phrase Jew-S-A mocking the USA chant.
“Out at a Trump rally in Phoenix lArizona last night,” Jake Tapper said. “One of Trump supporters walked up to the press section and started chanting this.”
Tapper played a clip of the Trump fan shouting Jew-S-A.
“The crowd is chanting ‘USA,'” Tapper said. “He was pointing to reporters chanting Jew-S-A. We have seen a lot of anti-Semites, and racists, and misogynists who support the Trump candidacy. Would you call that man deplorable?”
Kellyanne said she would. She claimed the supporter does not reflect their campaign. She immediately went into spin mode. She, pretty much accused Tapper of using the one example to paint all Trump supporters. Jake did not fall into Kellyanne’s verbal trap. He told her exactly why he highlighted the Trump guy.
“Mr. Trump has refused to condemn in a very serious way his racist and anti-Semitic fans,” Tapper said. “He just has. He says things like ‘O sure I disavow, I disavow.’ But he has never seriously said I don’t want the support of those people. They are reprehensible. They have nothing to do with me. He has never seriously done it in the same way that you and Mike Pence has.”
