Media ignored the reality that Democrats & Liberal policies had a good election day (VIDEO)

Rachel Maddow points out what the media ignored; Democrats did not win the presidency, the Senate, or the House. But absent winning the presidency and with that a progressive supreme court, they moved forward. Here is why.

Rachel Maddow’s positive message for Democrats

Despite losing the Presidency, Democrats had a fairly good election day that should knock much of the sulking off of their faces. As usual, the media concentrates mostly on the top of the ticket, yet most of what affect citizens immediately are at a more local level.

Rachel Maddow pointed out that in Nevada Democrats won the presidential race, the Senate seat held by Senator Reid, and picked up two house seats making 3 of the 4 House seats blue. But they also won both houses of the State Legislature.

Democrat Roy Cooper beat Republican Governor Pat McCrory in the state of North Carolina. Democratic House Rep Joshua Gottheimer beat incumbent Republican Scott Garrett. Incumbent Republican Rep John Micah lost his seat to Democrat Stephanie Murphy. Democrat Charlie Crist beat incumbent Republican Rep David Jolly. Democrat Paul Penzone beat Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona.

Democrats added four women to the Senate, Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Kamala Harris (D-CA), and Maggie Hassan (D-NH). There are 21 female Senators, a record number, fifteen Democrats. All 25 seats in the Hawaii Senate are Democratic.

Voters in California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Maine legalized recreational marijuana. Gun safety laws passed in Washington, California, and Nevada. Minimum wage increases passed in Washington, Arizona, Maine, and Colorado.

My friend and fellow Coffee Party USA Director Bobby Rodrigo posted this in our Coffee Party News Room with a narrative worth noting.

Some interesting numbers in Montana

Democratic Governor beat GOP opponent.
232,575 to 220,241.

Yet Donald Trump won Montana
260,583 to 161,049

Even if you take into account the 33,325 third party votes, that’s a 66,209 vote disparity between people that voted for the Democrat governor that did not vote for Hillary. That’s 66,209 split tickets, or around 16% of Montana voters who wanted a democrat as Governor but not Hillary as President.

This is a story the mainstream media is missing. I think that’s the unseen trend nationwide, split ticket voters. This eludes to a lot of voters who are traditionally democrats that voted against Hillary.”

What is interesting about this to me is Mitt Romney experienced the same kind of voter rebellion due to the way the RNC treated Ron Paul and his constituents. Very similar to what the DNC did to Bernie and his constituents. If you recall Romney was sure he was going to win. Just like Hillary.

In my big city of Houston, Democrats won the Sheriff, Tax Assessor, and District Attorney races as well as many judgeships.

So remember the following:

The narrative Trump and the media that has always been beholding to Trump till recently is that Trump won big and that Democrats just cratered. The reality is that Democrats won more votes in the presidential election, had gains in the Senate and House while Republicans lost House and Senate seats. Absent the Electoral College, it would have been a better day.
