David Axelrod, one hopes inadvertently, was attempting to normalize Donald Trump by cloaking his racism in some sort of a performance. The entire panel revolted against him.
John Legend let David Axelrod have it
John Legend, the famous recording artist did not allow David Axelrod the opportunity to normalize Donald Trump like many are now trying to do. David Axelrod should know better. He is President Obama’s former advisor and he knew all that the President went through not only from Trump but those in his ilk.
“It’s not just impolite,” John Legend said about the racist, sexist, xenophobic rhetoric Trump used during the election. “It’s threatening people’s lives. If you think Mexicans come into this country to rape and murder your family, that means their life is threatened.”
“The thing that I find offensive is I don’t think Donald Trump is a racist.,” Axelrod responded.
That did it. John Legend, Bill Maher, and Ann Marie Cox lost it.
“I don’t care if he is!” Legend said as he was visibly incensed making it clear that Trump’s verbiage incites racial violence.
There is a concerted effort by the news media and politicians to try to forget about how nasty, unprofessional, and immoral Trump was during the election. They are attempting to make him just another U.S. President when he is really a scourge on our democracy and a scary figure to many.
