Many on the Trump team are going berserk because of Green Party Jill Stein’s successful attempt at getting a recount in several Midwestern states. Why?
Cenk Uygur sees no similarity between calls for Trump to accept outcome pre-election
While I was not a fan of raising money for a recount, having one within the letter of the law is justified given the poll disparities. Cenk Uygur’s point is well taken.
“OK. And just quickly, Cenk, last thing,” Raddatz said. “There was so much outrage when Candidate Trump refused to say he would definitely accept the results of the election. Now some on the Left don’t seem to be accepting those results. You heard us talk about that today. Is that hypocritical?”
Cenk did not take the bait or false equivalence.
“Not at all,” Cenk Replied. “So if a recount is a perfectly normal part of the process. So if you decide to go outside of the process, then I would be with you. Hey, wait, wait, wait. We were on Trump for doing that. I totally agree it would be hypocritical. But if you’re within a percent — and there are rules in every state on this — perfectly right to call for a recount. I don’t know, you know, I saw the interview obviously earlier in the show. I don’t know why they’re so nervous. They’re just so jittery about — no recount, no recount. Whatever we do, don’t do a recount. Just calm down. If you think you won, the recount will show the same thing.”
It was evident the media has learned little. They are still trying a non-existent balance by trying to force false equivalencies.
I am not a fan of wasting time on recounts unless there is a justifiable belief that there was fraud. It is time to build the progressive grassroots movement throughout the fifty states. Much of the money raised by Jill Stein could go into expanding the progressive movement, a bigger bang for the buck.
