The Republicans are seeking the erasure of President Obama’s accomplishments. They have the unmitigated gall to want Democrats’ support in doing so, likely to show a bipartisan dismantling of Obamacare. But there is more to it.

Democrats must not help Republicans repeal Obamacare

Politico reports the following.

McConnell told reporters that repealing Obamacare would be “the first item up in the new year,” and the Kentucky Republican that he would like to “get Democratic cooperation” during the difficult process of replacing “a very, very controversial law.”

Incoming Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) had a simple reply to McConnell’s plans for an early repeal of President Obama’s signature health care overhaul: “Bring it on.”

“We’re certainly not gonna be part of this idea of repeal and put nothing in its place,” Schumer told reporters. Citing an emerging GOP plan to delay a replacement for as long as three years, he warned that “saying they’ll do it sometime down the road will cause huge calamity from one end of America to the other.”

Democrats must have no part of repealing Obamacare. In fact, any Democrat that joins the repeal cabal will immediately get a membership to and featured on FailedDemocrats.com.

It seems McConnell and the rank and file Republicans are likely to have bigger problems as their tight flank want immediate repeal, no ifs or buts. Politico reports the following.

The Republican congressman who made his name as the instigator of John Boehner’s ouster last year was set to take the reins of the House Freedom Caucus on Monday night. And first up on Rep. Mark Meadows’ to-do list: Torpedoing GOP leadership’s tentative plans to take as long as three years to replace Obamacare.

The proposal “will meet with major resistance from Freedom Caucus members,” the North Carolina Republican vowed in an interview, calling it “the first big fight I see coming for the Freedom Caucus.” “It should be repealed and replaced, and all of that should be done in the 115th Congress” — the two-year period starting in January through 2018 — and “not left to a future Congress to deal with,” Meadows added.

Let me be clear. Obamacare does not need ‘repealing,’ it needs fixing as any significant program needs when going through real time experience. The reality is that market-based systems created Obamacare’s problems. Sick people are unable to ‘shop around’ for healthcare. Shopping around for health care services have limited impact on health care spending.

Medicaid expansion lowers overall health insurance premiums. The Red States that refused the Medicaid Expansion to Obamacare imposed a double tax on their citizens. They pay higher rates for insurance. And their citizens are paying the tax that would have returned to their states if they had accepted the expansion. In other words, they are double taxing their citizens and implicitly murdering some because of healthcare insurance neglect.

What America needs is a single-payer healthcare system and price controls on drugs present in most industrialized countries. We must support subsidizing the education of doctors. If other countries can have sensible humane healthcare systems, we can too.
