The mainstream media gave Donald Trump a pass for his entire presidential campaign. Some are now dipping their toes by scrutinizing his deals and tweets. The out-of-nowhere Boeing tweet seems to come from his hurt feelings.
Kudos to World News Tonight for digging deeper
ABC’s World News Tonight did a better than usual job as they scrutinized Donald Trump’s Boeing tweet and the charade that was the Carrier deal.
Americans woke up to yet another Trump Twitter storm. Boeing felt the brunt of it. Our child president-elect sent the following tweet.
Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 6, 2016
The tweet seemed random. But as the World News Tonight piece points out, Trump likely heard about the criticism from a Boeing executive. I covered this as well in an article titled “Trump Fascism Alert: It has officially started with Boeing, BLM, and protesters” that pointed out what ticked off Donald Trump.
But World News Tonight did more. Other than pointing out the fact that the figures Trump quoted were lies, they also revisited the Carrier deal. Trump intended to make that deal a quick media event that everyone in the country heard. He did not intend for it to be scrutinized. After scrutiny, it turned out it was not a good deal for the taxpayer or most of the workers.
MSNBC’s Chris Hayes’ tweet said it best.

The good thing is the media may be growing a spine. If they do, 2018 will be the year of recovery for Democrats.
