MSNBC Host Stephanie Ruhle did the right thing when she apologized on air to Fox News a few hours after her misstep. Her apology illustrates quite a bit.

People make mistakes all of the times. The question is how does one atone for their mistakes and when. Stephanie Ruhle did it with class. Suppose all journalists did this when they screwed up a story or when they allowed guests to misrepresent information.
It happened in a segment where Ruhle was discussing Donald Trump’s affinity to pay himself. She pointed out that Trump spent 3 million dollars on the family business as campaign expenses in the last few weeks of the race. She then enumerated some of them; $2 million on his airline, $54 thousand at his various restaurants, and $236 thousand at Trump’s Las Vegas Hotel.
Lis Smith, a Democratic Strategist and one of her panelists pointed out that Donald Trump made it clear in several instances that he loves other people’s money. She said that is how he built his wealth.
“It is no surprise that he would build his campaign,” Smith said. “And enrich himself on other people’s money.”
And then Ruhle’s faux pas.
“Did he need to be eating only in Trump restaurants, staying in Trump hotels,” Ruhle said. “Think about the hotel in Washington right now. The RNC is having their Christmas party there. Fox News had their Christmas Party there. That doesn’t feel a little hanky?”
The problem is that Fox News is yet to have their Christmas party. Mediaite jumped on it as they should.

We reached out to Fox News to clarify this statement and were informed that Fox hasn’t had its party yet. That party is not scheduled to be held at Trump’s Washington hotel, or any other Trump property. Instead, it will be held at the Liaison Capitol Hill in D.C.
Of course, TheBlaze jumped on it for more ‘critical’ reasons, associating it with the new fake news rage.
Over the last month, the subject of “fake news” has sent mainstream media into a defensive tailspin. But MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle had no problem concocting her own version of the truth about Fox News on Friday morning.
It is true that many including yours truly have accused the mainstream media of ‘fake news’ themselves either directly or by allowing others to use their airwaves for the propagation of lies and information. This mistake was not one of those cases. Ruhle made a mistake and corrected it quickly. It is something rarely done on these networks and especially not Fox News.
