Joy-Ann Reid destroys media for getting played by Trump with their headlines (VIDEO)

Joy-Ann Reid could not hide her frustration with a media that continues to get it wrong. She points out several headlines that Trump orchestrated that were far from reality.

Joy-Ann Reid slams media dereliction

Joy-Ann Reid is one of the few journalists that has not yet succumbed to the normalization of Trump or the promotion of headlines that are closer to fake news than reality.

Republican lawmakers tried to put the foxes in charge of the henhouse when they attempted in secret to give Congress the power to essentially oversee ethics investigations of its own members and then hide those investigations from the public,” said Reid. “But that effort was stopped by you, the American people, who flooded congressional offices with thousands and thousands of calls. Not that you would know it from headlines like this; ‘House Republicans back off gutting ethics watchdog after backlash from Trump,’ ‘House Republicans pull plan to gut independent ethics committee after Trump tweets,’ ‘House GOP Reverses on Ethics Change After Trump Criticism.’ If outraged constituents were the engine driving the Republican mea culpa, think of Donald Trump as the caboose, sending those Johny-come-lately tweets stating the obvious after Americans had already spoken. It’s a pattern we have seen again and again as the press struggles to get a grip on how to cover a reality show politician who basically only communicate via Twitter, withholding any other source of informational contact with the press. and who regularly contradicts his own aides even after they’ve gone on TV and said things they presumedly learned from talking to him.”

Joy-Ann Reid continues as she points out that the media seem to fall for the same Trump shenanigans repetitiously.

We’ve seen the media, writ large, commit the same error over and over again, repeating the Trump claim that he saved more than a thousand jobs at Carrier in Indiana, then walking the headlines back when it turned out later that it wasn’t true, running glowing headlines regurgitating Trump taking credit for five thousand new jobs at Sprint. And the real headline is Trump taking credit for a Sprint jobs deal that has nothing to do with Donald Trump. In fact, t had been publicly announced months earlier. Or how about reporting as known fact, that Trump will hold his next post-election news conference on January 11th, which he very well might do. But there is every reason to be skeptical after Trump skipped the one that he promised on December 15th, and the one he promised for Melania Trump about her immigration status. And on and on and on, claim after claim made on Twitter, that never pan out. Dig beneath the headlines, and you eventually get to the real truth about Trump. But why does the press keep burying the lead?

It is clear that the press as an institution has no desire to change. One hopes that journalists like Reid and others who are speaking up as best they can will, eventually shame them out of their dereliction of duty.
