This Russian politician seems to be having fun at America’s expense as he bragged on a Sunday panel show about stealing the United States Presidential Election.
Russians are no longer shy in overtly pointing out what many know; they helped put Donald Trump in the White House. The Russian politician said that the U.S. “intelligence missed it when Russian Intelligence stole the president of the United States.”
The Hill reported the following,
Vyacheslav Nikonov, a member of the Russian parliamentary body, the Duma, made the remarks on the panel show “Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov.”
The focus of the episode was the decline of U.S. power in the world. In that context, said University of Virginia professor Allen Lynch via email, Nikonov was less stating the extent of Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election, and more mocking the resulting chaos as emblematic of U.S. weakness.
The professor further stated that Nikonov was making the point that if the United States cannot protect the integrity of its elections, it cannot consider itself a powerful nation.

Julia Davis, operator of the website Russia Lies first reported on the panel discussion. She sent out several tweets about the panel.

I continue to stand by the fact that Donald Trump is an undemocratically illegitimate president. The Russian politician was probably correct. Our intelligence agencies failed to understand the severity of the deception. From Russians using social media to manipulate many Americans to Russian hackers targeting our voting systems to the apparent collusion with Russia at a minimum with many Trump campaign officials, the 2016 election was compromised. A blind person could see the path.
