MSNBC’s Chuck Todd surprisingly nailed it on gun control (VIDEO)

Chuck Todd nails it on gun control

Many Progressives including yours-truly give Chuck Todd a hard time because he could be a competent journalist. It is clear he is smart when he refuses to follow the plutocracy’s doctrines. He knocked this one out of the park explaining why it is now we must talk about gun control.

I would not have expected Chuck Todd to come out this forcefully in support of at least discussing gun control issues now.

Chuck Todd nails it on gun control debate

“We hear it after every incident like this,” Chuck Todd said. “We’ve heard it again today. ‘Now is not the time to talk about how and what to do about gun violence. Now is not the time. Think about that.”

Todd then enumerated incidents where we addressed the issues immediately. No one expected anyone to wait.

“Why is now not the time?” Chuck Todd asked. “When planes flew into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, did we say, ‘Now is not the time to talk about’ terrorism or homeland security? When our banking system nearly collapsed in 2008, did we say, ‘Now is not the time to talk about’ financial regulation? When we learned that some 140 million people’s records had been breached at Equifax, did we say, ‘Now is not the time to talk about cybersecurity?’ When we learned about Russia meddling in fake news and cyber bots, did we say, ‘Now is not the time to regulate Twitter and Facebook?’ When North Korea launched longer missiles and claimed to have exploded a hydrogen bomb, did we say, ‘Now is not the time to talk about nuclear proliferation?'”

Todd then concludes with sort of a tacit admonishment of the gun lobby. Did you get it in the last sentence?

“The point is, this is exactly the time to start talking about, any issue,” Todd said. “Gun violence included. If we wait until cooler heads prevail on any of these issues, we’d never talk about it. In fact, if we apply the same logic to every other debate and every other crisis that this country faces that we do to the gun debate, we never would have focused on any of those issues either. Then again, maybe that is the point.”
