Charles Barkley poignant message to Democratic Party after Doug Jones win (VIDEO)

Charles Barkley poignant but necessary comment to Democratic Party after Doug Jones win

Charles Barkley had a poignant but necessary message for the Democrat Party that they better heed. There is a simmering revolt brewing within the party that unresolved will destroy the all-but-certain blue wave in 2018 and 2020.

The Democratic Party is the party of inclusion, yet many feel marginalized even though it is their votes that empowers the Democratic Establishment. The most dependable voting block in the Democratic Party is black women followed by the votes of other minorities. The Doug Jones victory is exhibit  . I wrote a less-than-joyous piece about the Jones victory yesterday as there are some disturbing trends even with the Jones victory.

The party, both internally and externally take its most dependable voters for granted in a manner that is even more obscene than being outwardly prejudiced, by omission and ignoring. The powers running the party behind the scenes still do not look like the quilt that it is. Much of this is because the organization is not really grassroots but dependent on the titans of finance and corporations. Of course, that sect does not yet reflect America, by design.

Charles Barkley’s statement is more profound than it comes across. The CNN host asked Barkley what message he had for Trump. He disregarded the question and said that the election of Doug Jones was a wake-up call for Democrats.

Charles Barkley’s message to the Democratic Party

“This is a wake-up call for Democrats,” said Charles Barkley. “The Democrats and I told Mr. Jones this, they’ve taken the black vote and the poor vote for granted for a long time. It is time for them to get off their ass and start making life better for black folks and people who are poor. They’ve always had our votes, and they’ve abused our votes. And this is a wake-up call. We are in a great position now. But this is a wake-up call to do better for black people and poor white people.”

What must be inferred here? Blacks stuck with the Democratic Party. They must be rewarded for that loyalty.

Poor whites left to a party that takes them for granted too. A real Progressive grassroots party that ensures it has a leadership that looks like America and engages all continuously would do two things.

It would re-engage those poor white voters that falsely believe those others are taking away something that is their birthright because they will see a party interested in their values. Secondly, it will deny the Right Wing Republicans the options to seed their psyche by pushing the racist, xenophobic buttons of those left susceptible to those triggers.

Look, I know, “race” is just a social construct that should be meaningless. But our powers who decided to keep it on the table for generations means we must operate under those terms until all are educated to the scam.
