I posted a story about a woman who went to see her doctor for a simple dermatological exam. The doctor said she had a toe fungus and prescribed a ridiculously expensive medication, $1500/month, that had a 7% success rate! Some foreigners responded to the story. Everyone needs to read their comments.
If we could bottle the responses from these sensible commenters and give it as a medication to those who continue to defend American failed health care system, the country could move forward.

This just blows my Canadian mind !!! I watch the new medical show ‘The Resident’ and I enjoy it. I can’t say I like it but I do enjoy it. I enjoy it because it actually is showing how really screwed the US healthcare system is. It shows how the US system is not about healthcare and everything about health private profit. How it’s not about patient care but about insurance management to maximize profit. Our system is not perfect, there are flaws, but everyone has access to decent medical care and even our pharmaceutical companies through the drug stores or pharmacies are obligated to point out generic alternatives to prescriptions because the pharmacists generally know better than the doctor, what is available as an alternative.

It does not take rocket science to realize that health care does not belong in the free market where profit maximization is the goal. That model is anathema to curing diseases permanently or providing stable cost. It is time for America to implement single-payer Medicare for All.
