Republican Senator Ben Sasse did not pull punches as he slammed President Trump’s trade war with China. One wonders if more Republicans will start bucking the President.

Hopefully the President is just blowing off steam, but setting Amer agriculture on fire is not a plan. My statement: pic.twitter.com/zSJhYZPDK2

“Hopefully the President is just blowing off steam again but, if he’s even half-serious, this is nuts,” Ben Sasse said. “China is guilty of many things, but the President has no actual plan to win right now. He’s threatening to light American agriculture on fire. Let’s take on Chinese bad behavior, but with a plan that punishes them instead of us. This is the dumbest possible way to do this.”
Trump is seeking additional tariffs on $100 Billion of Chinese imports.
President Trump ordered his chief trade negotiator to consider imposing tariffs on an additional $100 billion of Chinese products Thursday, in a dramatic escalation of his trade war with China. The threat from Trump is the latest volley between the White House and Beijing in an exchange of trade attacks that continue to broaden in scope and severity. Trump’s latest move would impose tariffs on a significant share of imported Chinese goods that enter the United States — $505.6 billion last year.
Recently Jim Cramer revealed an unfortunate truth.
“You don’t wing it with the Chinese,” Cramer said. “The Chinese are so ready for us. One of the reasons the Chinese dominate in so many different games and have and have their 2025 plan to take over certain industries is because they are very smart about what they are ready for.”
Cramer went on to say that China knows the state where every product they will retaliate on is coming from and that the Chinese are on their game. In other words, the Chinese know exactly how to extract maximum pain on Trump by ensuring the tariffs affects Trump’s base.
“They are so ready for what we have to do that it is embarrassing,” Cramer said.
