Rick Wilson did not hold back on a recent CNN panel. He did not mince his words as a Trump apologist tried to spin his lies.
The panel was discussing Washington Post’s contributing editor Jonathan Greenberg’s article titled “Trump lied to me about his wealth to get onto the Forbes 400. Here are the tapes.” Jonathan Greenberg wrote the following..
In May 1984, an official from the Trump Organization called to tell me how rich Donald J. Trump was. I was reporting for the Forbes 400, the magazine’s annual ranking of America’s richest people, for the third year. In the previous edition, we’d valued Trump’s holdings at $200 million, only one-fifth of what he claimed to own in our interviews. This time, his aide urged me on the phone, I needed to understand just how loaded Trump really was.
The official was John Barron — a name we now know as an alter ego of Trump himself. When I recently rediscovered and listened, for first time since that year, to the tapes I made of this and other phone calls, I was amazed that I didn’t see through the ruse.
Wilson was not going to allow a Trump apologist to spin out of this one.
“This is a president who is a known serial congenital liar and fabulist,” Rick Wilson said. “There is nothing that comes out of this man’s mouth that you can count on including the color of the sky or the time of day.”
But Rick Wilson was not done.
“He is a guy who has been rated as having told over two thousand lies in his first year in office, Wilson continued. “There’s nothing about Donald Trump we should take for granted or that you should take as a ground truth. Everything is going to always be filtered through this bullsh$t prism of his — Sorry — where believes that whatever he says about himself is an actual fact. And it’s just not the truth. And Donald Trump has a long thirty-five-year pattern of the tendency to do this. And this is one of the reasons that Donald Trump can’t get a bank loan for his l.ife in the world. He’s had to go to lenders of last resort because he’s lied so many times about his businesses and they’ve gone belly-up.”
Trump’s ears have got to be burning.
