Liberals allowed the Right to corrupt the word Liberal… It occurred because too many times Liberals relied on the hope the attacks would neither be long-lasting or damaging. They’ve since been proven wrong, but politicians like Pat Spearman are the answers.
If we had more politicians like Par Spearman articulating their real values, there would be no need to worry. Senator
Senator Pat Spearman speaks on the word Liberal.
“Once upon a time progressive was known as liberal. We allowed other people to grab that word and redefine it and make it something bad.” Senator Pat Spearman said. “I’m also an ordained minister. Everything that I read in the Bible and all the sermons that, — I’m Christian — all the sermons that I’ve preached from that Bible tell me that Jesus was a liberal and so is God. So liberal is not a bad word. Liberal just means it’s another way of saying you know bring everyone into the tent, under the tent, and everyone has values.”
Senator Spearman then speaks to liberalism in terms of being a candidate.
“I think running when you run on the values that you hold dear and you are unapologetic about justice, about equality, the Senator said. “When you’re unapologetic about making sure that everybody has the same equal right, when you’re unapologetic about talking about health care is a right not a privilege, when you’re unapologetic about saying black lives matter, when you’re unapologetic about saying what some police officers are doing, some rogue police officers, that is just wrong and it gives everyone else a bad name. When you run and you are authentic by saying that everyone has the right to vote and a lot of the crazy things that people are trying to do with respect to voter ID, those are wrong. Run on who you are. Run on what you believe because you know what in the thick of the battle when you get right there at that part of the primary or that part of the general election where everybody’s beat down and not clowning around, when you get right there you know if you’re not running on what you believe it’s gonna be hard to sustain.”
