When I heard about a woman accusing Joe Biden of inappropriately kissing on her and holding her my first thought was there, we go again. Then I saw the woman and recalled that I met her at Netroots Nation 2015. The one thing I remembered was that she had an incredible story.
This morning I was about to write a piece about my fear of the #MeToo movement at times. Why? How do you defend yourself from someone who accuses you of doing something wrong when the expectation is to believe?
When you listen to Lucy Flores speak, it is clear she is tough, and one would think no circumstance would impede her from slapping one across the face if they were too forward with her. But this alleged offender was the vice-president of the United States with inherent power with or without his secret service detail.
Ironically, when I posted the picture below on my Facebook wall stating I met Ms. Flores, a reader immediately IMed me with following.
Hey Egberto, I just saw your post on Lucy Flores and wanted to reach out to you re: your word choice. Being “very forward” is much much different than what Flores said happened. I’d just like you to think about how your wording is problematic b/c it downplays her experience and that of other women whose bodies have been touched inappropriately by men (especially those in positions of power).
I responded immediately.
I definitely would not want to do that so I will change the words.
I changed the words to more accurately describe what I heard on CNN, “inappropriately kissing and holding her.”
The Establishment is probably gearing up to destroy this woman. So before anyone goes on to hate on this woman, please learn her story. She recounted some of it at Netroots Nation 2015 in Phoenix Arizona in my video below.
