The Democratic Primary is upon us. Unless more candidates start speaking about that which affects Americans, citizens will reelect Trump. After all, why change, when we have an economy that we allowed people to believe, is good.
The poor and the middle-class are in an existential moment that needs education and leadership. Too many in the Democratic Primary fail to see that.
Americans are living through the new slavery. Unfortunately, we have been so indoctrinated that we cannot see the connections.
The slavery of old was rough, violent, animalistic, abhorrent, and bloody. Today’s slavery is antiseptic. It has a semblance of class. But the ultimate power structure is the same.
Recently I had the honor of having Dr. Richard Wolff on my Politics Done Right daily show. He confirmed one of the concepts that I have been trying to get across to most people, even those who think they are doing reasonably well in this our economic system. He validated in no uncertain terms; ours is not much different than Feudalism and Slavery. The difference is that human beings are property no more.
Executives and high-priced employees usually balk at my representation of our pseudo-slave-based economic system. After all, they are living a very privileged life. How could they possibly be slaves. In fact, they are but paid to be effective and reliable guardians of the gate, of the masters.
This reality is our system. We all live in it. So far we make the best of it. But it is not sustainable, and we cannot fix the cracks quickly. We must revamp it. But to do so takes leadership, insight, honesty, and courage.
We have spurts of that in some of the Democratic Party Primary candidates, some more potent than others. But if we are to show Americans, we are going to turn this juggernaut away from our antiseptic form of slavery. There is much to be done.
Elizabeth Warren launched one of the most substantive policy suggestions that are huge. She wants to remove the chains of slavery from students saddled with student loan debt. This debt makes them slaves to the bankers and prevents them from moving forward in life. it is doable.
Of course, the Centrists chimed. Amy Klobuchar said canceling student debt was unrealistic. It is never unrealistic to come up with whatever cash is necessary to go to war. It is never unrealistic to make bankers whole. It is never unrealistic to do the things the wealthy demand.
Ironically, that debt should not have been in the first place. Much of it has its genesis in the parade of tax cuts over the years that have made education very expensive for the student. And who got that tax cut money, the wealthy. Is it now time for payback?
The one act of debt forgiveness would be a shot in the arm for the economy as GenZs, millennials, and younger GenXers are finally able to participate in large parts of the economy, housing, etc.
The Plutocracy continues to fool Americans into the false belief that Progressive policies are unaffordable or that they will break the bank. The fact is they won’t. This human-made economy will adjust because we do not have goods chasing money and not the other way around.
