Elizabeth Warren's Full Speech at Town Hall at the University of Houston on July 5th, 2019

Senator Elizabeth Warren was in town for the NEA’s #StrongPublicSchools Presidential Forum at the George R. Brown Convention Center. After the forum, she had a Town Hall at the University of Houston that was at capacity early on. She addressed both crowds. The woman has stamina.

I had read Senator Warren’s story before. I always thought it was compelling. After listening to her in the speech along with the anecdotes and the connecting personalization, it is clear why her poll numbers are rising.

Warren’s prose made it clear that she was more than just empathetic. After all, she lived many of the hardships of the working poor and the middle-class.

Her drive to succeed is stronger than most. It is clear that unlike many on the Right who would say, lift yourself up by your own bootstraps, she understands that there is no reason that life has to be as hard as it is for so many.

Warren articulated her “I-have-a-plan” for everything. What I like is there was a rational way to get where she wants to take the country completely antithetical to those who claim she wants to give away stuff for free. Anyone saying that misses it all.

After the speech, I was a part of the media gaggle and got in a critical question. I asked her how she will handle the Socialist moniker Republicans, and some Democrats like Michael Bennet and Hickenlooper are likely to use on her.

Senator Warren did not miss a beat as she pointed out that she is not worried about that. She pointed out that both Democrats and Republicans are in support of many of her policies.
