The media has been slow in defining the President for who he has always been. Sometimes it seems they are trying to catch up by bringing on guests that are not afraid to call a thing, a thing like MSNBC Pundit and “The Beat DC” Co-Founder and Managing Editor Tiffany Cross.
When it was her turn to address the panel, she said something many of us have been saying for decades. We all knew the media were playing timid and loose with Donald Trump.
We should have called a thing a thing on Trump
“This is the monster that the GOP created,” Ms. Cross said. “We have to acknowledge that this did not begin this year. This certainly isn’t the first time that we have a white nationalist in the oval office of this country. This isn’t the first time we’ve had white nationalists walking Capitol Hill.”
Cross then pointed out what should’ve been obvious. When one stays silent. When one does not pushback at evil, it does what cancer does, metastasize.
She mocked the media.
“This is the first time that the media have been so bold to say the President made racist comments,” cross said. “Oh, not comments of racial undertones, not things that some people found racist.”
The coup de grace.
“I think had we call a thing a thing two years ago when this President kicked off his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists and drug dealers,” cross said, “Had we called a thing a thing in 2011 when he talked about Obama being a birther. Had we called a thing a thing decades ago when he called for the murder of the Central Park Five, the now exonerated five.”
Cross concluded her comments by pointing out that the four Progressive Congresswomen (Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley) Donald Trump attacked with his racist words represent a large number of people. Most importantly she pointed at the people of color on the panel and pointed out Trump wants them all gone.
Recently, MSNBC Pundit Zerlina Maxwell had to check Steve Kornacki on a panel where he attempted to create a false equivalence between Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and the President.
