Watch Senator Sherrod Brown show Democrats how to shutdown reporters' false equivalencies

A reporter in Ohio attempted to create a false equivalence between Democrats and Republicans on the failure to address guns and mass killings. Senator Sherrod Brown shut it down rather quickly.

Sherrod Brown shows how one handles false equivalency questions

“Senator, the mass shootings have been politicized by Democrats and Republicans pointing fingers at each other,” the reporter said. “Don’t both parties take blame in the inability to find a solution to the mass shooting epidemic?”

It is common knowledge that Republican politicians, under the tutelage of their masters, the National Rifle Association (NRA), have no desire for any legislation to regulate guns. Even as most Americans, Republican and Democrats alike want more gun control, the GOP politicians continue to be the puppets of the organization.

Sherrod Brown first forced the reporter to answer to why he made the false equivalency and then summarily dismissed the attempt. He immediately tagged the failure in policy to a GOP incapable of detaching itself from the NRA’s commands because they have invested millions to buy the Republican Party.

Brown then got specific. He said that Mitch McConnell and President Donald Trump were in bed with the gun lobby. He then identifies the hypocrisy of the Republican position. They want to attribute the shooting massacres to mental health yet they cut access to health care.

The Senator then admonished the reporter.

“Be honest about this,” he told the reporter. “Guns are a big big part of this. And we have a whole political party in this country, … that is in bed with the gun lobby. You can call it gridlock but it is because of that special interest group.”

He was very complete in the defense and subsequent attack in a very civil manner that all can hear. In these times whenever any Progressive politician is in front of a camera, they must call out the opposition and reframe how their solution will make things better.
