President’s former communications director thinks Trump will drop out of 2020 race.

Donald Trump 2020 race

Trump hates to lose. It is definitely plausible that if the polls are bad enough that racism and cheating do not seem to give him an edge, he just may drop out of the 2020 race.

Anthony Scaramucci may be testing the waters for the president even as he promotes his new status as a Trump critic.

Anthony Scaramucci doesn’t think President Donald Trump will make it to the next election. The former White House communications director turned Trump critic appeared on CNN’s “New Day,” where he said the president showed clear signs of mental decline — and he wondered why his aides weren’t doing anything about it. …

Scaramucci predicted that Trump’s popularity would continue to droop, and he would eventually drop out of his re-election campaign. “It’s not clear to me that he’s going to make it,” Scaramucci said. “I still predict that poll numbers are going to go much lower, and I predict that, like Lyndon Johnson, before he gets there.” “He’s going to continue to disassemble, he’s going to amp up the bullying and the nastiness and it’s going to turn off at least another 10 percent of his base,” Scaramucci added, “and then it’s basically over.”

Could Scaramucci be throwing out a 2020 race test balloon?

The erratic behavior of the president and his push to monetize the presidency with abandon could mean he is hedging his bets. Even though a former president can be charged with the crimes they are unable to charge him with now, he may forge a deal Democrats and Republicans to let bygones be bygones just to get him, a clear and present danger to the country, out of the presidency without exciting the portion of his base that may resort to violence.

This is pure speculation but this is such an errant presidency nothing is on solid footing or true to form. The most concerning result of this presidency is how much evil many Americans have allowed being normalized. The question is whether we can revert to form, to some kind of former normalcy that is more humane.

PS: I would love to hear your thoughts on this late-night dabble. Note that when I am speculating I make it quite clear. I want to look back at this next year. 🙂
