Medicare for All would save this caller who cannot afford to use his Obamacare

Medicare For All Saves

A caller to Politics Done Right was clear that while he is the named insured on his Affordable Care Act policy, he is effectively uninsured because he cannot afford to use his policy. I made it clear to him how Medicare For All would save him.

Medicare For All saves all Americans struggling with insurance

Syed called into Politics Done Right as we discussed the attacks on Medicare for All. The caller was concerned about what the new tax scenario would look like. It is clear he felt burned by Obamacare. After all, he continues to purchase it but because it has a $6,000 deductible, he is virtually uninsured.

I always tell people that people are not rushing to and spilling blood for Medicare for All because it simply seems too good to be true. But it is not.

All one has to do is remember basic math. If one system of payments require hundreds of duplicate services as well as make profits for passive investors and pay thousands of executives millions of dollars, then it is impossible for that system to be more efficient than one that must provide the same service without that overhead. It is simply basic math.

I explained to Syed that Medicare For All is not the free stuff its detractors would have most believe. We all will pay for it with some sort of a payroll tax. The tax, like the income tax, is based on how much you make. As such, everybody has buy-in to the system. Most importantly, all able-bodied people have skin in the game.

But the most important part is that unlike private insurance that tells you which drugs you can take and which doctors you are allowed to see, it is you who choose your doctor and make decisions about your drugs and procedures. If you choose to buy insurance for the unnecessary things Medicare for All does not cover, private insurance will still be there for you to do so.

Do not allow the lies to taint your vote. Support those who support policies that support you for a change.
