Fox News, a clear and present danger.
Take a time trip back 20 years ago when both randy Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes had a double epiphany and concocted a profitable way to tap into the deep dark well of white supremacist ideology still bubbling below America’s surface.
You can trace the symbiotic relationship between the GOP and their doppelganger TV channel back to that time.
Here is the bottom line: People getting their information from Fox News and their current presidential offspring, Donald John Trump. His Twitter account spewing high smoke and mirrors of Fox talking points is now increasingly detached from reality and facts. In turn, this is leading to their mutual ideological radicalization, which is not only troublesome but also potentially dangerous, for example, if Trump loses the 2020 election and refuses to leave — claiming that his victory was rigged against him. Who then will be brave enough to organize a mass burial ground for democracy?
Anybody who has been paying any attention whatsoever knows that Trump is obstructing every federal institution to save his own hide. And, after listening to the president and other top officials tell one lie after another for the past three years, even casual observers know that you have to get them to testify under oath to get anything even resembling the truth.
Finally, it seems pretty obvious to anybody familiar with the obvious and unassailable facts that Trump is unfit for office and uses the powers of the presidency for his personal gain for himself and his corrupt from the womb crime family.
So why are Trump’s poll numbers so surprising high amongst uneducated voters and Republican grifter elites?
Because a large chunk of their population lives in a fantasyland created by Fox News in which Yin is Yang, left is right, down is up and Mike Pompeo is a liberal icon, Roger Stone has been unfairly pilloried, war criminals are widely misunderstood and should be pardoned and are pardoned, and Trump is a selfless defender of the truth and a pitiable and constant victim of neoliberal media harassment, subsumed by venomous jealousy because they lost the 2016 election.
Erased from facts that their chosen one has told over 16,000+ lies in office (and counting) — and that other top officials are routinely lying to them. And they are not familiar with the facts because the only news source they trust and follow is making sure that they remain ignorant.
Eight years ago, a study found that Fox News viewers ate literally force-fed a form of televised milk of amnesia. But that pretense has long gone with the ascendance of Trump. The Pelosi concocted hoax has become the stark reality of Covid-19, the scaffolding is buckling under the weight of Fox’s duplicity, lies, and hypocrisy. How that dog doth whistle.
Now, all the network seems to care about is creating an alternative reality that keeps Republicans in power for as long as possible. And when they are caught in crises of their own making, they pray to make the bad go away. Pray the gay away. Pray the immigrant away. Pray Covid-19 away. Pray the whistleblowers away. Pray abortion away and if that doesn’t work, pray the newborn baby away. Pray Blacks and Latinos and Chinese and Jews away. Pray the facts away. Pray the truth away. And don’t come back another day.
And now most of us are always left constantly scratching our heads how 35% to 40% of Americans can trust an adulterous man who sleeps with a porn star and doesn’t use a condom.
