The coronavirus has now infected both houses of Congress. Rand Paul is the first senator to test positive. Two congressmen tested positive last week.

Senator Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19. He is feeling fine and is in quarantine. He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events. He was not aware of any direct contact with any infected person.

and then.

He expects to be back in the Senate after his quarantine period ends and will continue to work for the people of Kentucky at this difficult time. Ten days ago, our D.C. office began operating remotely, hence virtually no staff has had contact with Senator Rand Paul.

CBSNews reported Rand Paul contracting the coronavirus as follows.

Washington — Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has tested positive for the coronavirus and is in quarantine, his office announced Sunday.

Paul is the first member of the U.S. Senate to test positive for the virus and the third member of Congress to contract it, Representatives Mario Diaz-Balart, a Florida Republican, and Ben McAdams, a Utah Democrat, announced last week they were battling COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.

“He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events,” Sergio Gor, Paul’s deputy chief of staff, said in a statement. “He was not aware of any direct contact with any infected person. He expects to be back in the Senate after his quarantine period ends and will continue to work for the people of Kentucky at this difficult time.”

It is poetic justice that those who would deny the country Medicare For All get a wake-up call that the lack thereof will be instrumental in its spread – Italy for other reasons notwithstanding. South Korea and Taiwan are probative.

At two this morning I spoke to a former partner in Taiwan. They have been doing what we have just started doing in America for several weeks, social distancing, testing, and disinfection. His sister works for a research lab in California and he said she points out we are in for dire outcomes unless we take a much more proactive approach nationally.
