This real-world consequence of Trump lies may be fatal

This real world consequence of Trumps lies may be fatal.

President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis told folks they were at low risk, continue living their lives, and not to disrupt what they are doing. These lies may cost some people who acted on that advice their lives. One must not take COVID-19 lightly.

The lies have life and death consequences

The couple that spoke to reporter Sam Brock in the video in this post made their decision to continue with their cruise because they accepted the word of the President and Governor to go on with their lives as normal. Unfortunately, they should have known that those in the executive have been the largest promoters of lies and cannot be trusted based on past behavior.

The New York Times reported the incident as follows.

PANAMA CITY — Four passengers have died aboard a cruise ship now anchored off the coast of Panama and two people aboard the ship have tested positive for the coronavirus, the cruise line said Friday, with hundreds of passengers unsure how long they will remain at sea.

Holland America Line said in a post on its Facebook page that more than 130 people aboard the Zaandam had reported flu-like symptoms.

“Holland America Line can confirm that four older guests have passed away on Zaandam,” the statement said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and we are doing everything we can to support them during this difficult time.” It did not identify the cause of death.

The ship, which had been turned away from other ports and now is being denied passage through the Panama Canal, was receiving medical supplies and medical personnel from another Holland America ship, the Rotterdam, and the company planned to begin transferring healthy passengers to that ship. …

It was not immediately clear where either ship would go. The Rotterdam had not requested permission to pass through the Panama Canal.

We should not forget the couple in Phoenix whose faith in President Trump failed them. They heard the president touting chloroquine. So they decided to ingest chloroquine phosphate. The husband died while the wife was in critical condition.

CBS News reported it as follows.

A Phoenix-area man has died and his wife was in critical condition after the couple took chloroquine phosphate, CBS affiliate KPHO reported. The additive used to clean fish tanks that is also found in an anti-malaria medication that’s been touted by President Donald Trump as a treatment for COVID-19.

Banner Health said Monday that the couple in their 60s got sick within half an hour of ingesting the additive. The man couldn’t be resuscitated when he arrived at a hospital, but the woman was able to throw up much of the chemical, Banner said.

“I saw it sitting on the back shelf and thought, ‘Hey, isn’t that the stuff they’re talking about on TV?'” the woman told NBC.

“Trump kept saying it was basically pretty much a cure,” she said, adding her advice for people would be, “Don’t take anything. Don’t believe anything. Don’t believe anything that the president says and his people … call your doctor.”

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, Banner Health is warning everyone to avoid self-medicating.

Ironic. People must stop self-medicating. Unfortunately, many cannot afford advice from doctors and researched self-medication is their only option. One hopes they get good information.
