Let’s keep our eyes on the ball in these difficult times.

As I am consumed by watching the protests and watching others use this opportunity to tell their stories facilitated by our centralization on racism because of the obvious barbarism of the police’s action on a black man that was visible to all as it spoke to the humanity of many, I said to myself ‘KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE BALL.’  But let me digress for a minute.

There is a phrase out of the Bible that fits my humanism. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

What is occurring in the recesses of one’s mind that simply by the skin one is born in makes them suspect? What is ironic is that the real successful criminal wants to fit in to effect their sport. The irrationality of racism does not even successfully deter. Why? Because it is irrational.

As I am followed around in a store because of my hue, the real shoplifter gets busy. It is funny because criminals who understand the disease, the irrationality of racism, have formed multi-racial crime teams to do just that in many different forms. Hell, Trump is one of the masters of it. And he is taking all his minions’ money in the process.

Similarly, the undocumented person wants to hide and not run the risk of being caught by voting illegally. It is irrational to think that they want to present themselves in a space where they are hunted are could be caught. They just want to work and most Americans wink because they know the real value of these folks. But for the infected, the semblance of danger and harm from these people allows for effective manipulation.

The powers infect too many with racism, xenophobia, and all the other isms and phobias to segment and control by pitting segments at each other. Solving this problem requires intentionality. The government must make laws that mitigate the outcome of racism and all the isms and irrational phobias. But only you can change yourself from the need to be mitigated externally. Absent that the few will continue to manipulate the many into a steady decline into indentured servitude.

If we keep our eyes on the ball we will get through this racial strife and pandemic. We will use it as a catalyst to force a more egalitarian society that will aid in mitigating racism by eliminating certain components that are used as its drivers. COVID-19 will make Medicare for All by any name a requirement. Upcoming natural and unnatural disasters will force us to force our politicians to solve our environmental problems.

Let’s keep our eyes in the ball. There is much to do. But we must enlighten all in a geometric manner.
