The squad isn’t just “surviving,” they’re thriving and growing

The Squad, the original unabashed young progressive women are again representing their respective districts for the win in November 2020. While many thought they were easy pickings, their community organizing skills ensured their elections were not even close.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won her primary by 60 points against a well-financed opponent. Rashida Tlaib won her primary by 30 points against the establishment and a well-financed opponent. No one even attempted to run against Ayanna Pressley. Ilhan Omar with two challengers, one well-financed, still won in a landslide.

And then there were the establishment slayers. Mary Newman beat the perennial Centrist/Right Dan Lipinski. Cori Bush beat the entrenched machine, William Lacy Clay. And Jamaal Bowman beat 16 term incumbent Eliot Engel.

The Squad isn’t “surviving.” The Squad is thriving. And they are growing.

Ilhan Omar (D-MN-05) wins Primary. The Squad is Strong.

Ilhan Omar has won the Democratic primary election in MN05 after a contentious campaign against a well financed opponent. This follows similar wins by Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13) and AOC (D-NY-14). Ayanna Pressley (D-MA-7) is running unopposed next month. Following the announcement of Kamala Harris as the VP pick, this is a great day for progressives.
