What about all the violence and mayhem taking place during the protests in America in 2020? Many are curious because to them it seems like there is no law and order and that could lead the country to a dark place.
Here is the reality. Almost no one supports violence. No one supports hurting human beings. Unfortunately, the converse is not true. As a society, we have learned to kill the human and the human spirit with impunity all to satisfy the few. And it is that which keeps order until it breaks when some are triggered enough to react. We are so good at it. We have a health care system that inherently kills. We have police who are enforcers that use a form of terrorism against black and brown bodies as a check against all Americans. We have an economic system that is tantamount to antiseptic or sanitized slavery.
The genius is that most are unable to see the design when the well-oiled machine is running at a steady state. But as soon as there are disruptions, then the most aggrieved are the first to see the evil within. Black people and Latinos in the aggregate are dying at substantially higher numbers because of the confluence of being the ones with the least, the ones who do the jobs that are exposed, and downright medical racism.
We have also had a confluence of events that has made it clear to many in the majority population who have decided not to be willfully ignorant or blind. They have seen police, vigilantes, and the system in general as a clear and present danger against POCs. Most importantly, for several reasons they can see that they will not be immune forever as an unsustainable system will eventually have to eat them until its ultimate demise.
Let me make one thing clear. The economic collapse is not solely the fault of COVID-19. As I have written before, the REPO market was collapsing during Trump’s “great economy” by manufacturing liquidity for months. It was about to collapse. If anything, while COVID-19 killed the economic well-being of the masses, guess what, the stock market is still being propped up. Again, capital over humanity.
You asked about violence. While I do not condone it, given that our system’s sole concern is capital, the threat of endangering their capital, as one can see now, apparently gets more immediate results than asking peacefully for an equal footing decade after decade.
There is no surprise here. When our founding fathers felt aggrieved by England, they did the same thing. When we did not like Noriega facilitating the capitalist notion of providing America with its requested drug supply, Bush bombed Panama City, Colon, & David, Panama killing 10,000 people to stop it whilst they brought Noriega to the United States. So, we should be careful how we describe the reaction from an ignored aggrieved. That said, there are organized Right-Wing rings as pointed out by the FBI doing the most heinous property damage/fires.
Americans must open their eyes to our reality. A false narrative does not endure forever as reality becomes revealed.
