Here is the perfect example that explains why the police present a clear and present danger to people of color. The video says it all.
I constantly make it clear to many people why I would only call the police as an absolute last resort where I am fairly sure I could not be taken as the perpetrator of the crime. For the police who in fact belong to a systemically racist organization, that means I must almost never call the cops.
The black woman in the video apparently called the cops for an aggressive person seeking to buy drugs from some kids. By the time the police arrived, the perpetrator was gone but the black kids were there. As would be expected of this systemically racist organization, being in those black bodies made those kids suspects that warranted guns resembling AK-47s pointed at them.
And one wonders why people of color have no faith in the police even as they may need them at times. This is why #DefundThePolice is important. Put the money into programs to reduce crime at the front end instead of many times the cost with incarceration, biased law enforcement, and outright human torture.
Many police officers want to be macholike soldiers. They can only get away with their fantasies by killing and maiming the bodies of people of color, where the risk of paying a price for their evil sport is unlikely. What gives? Good moral Americans of all stripes can put a stop to this.
Video has begun to spread around the internets purportedly showing LA County, California law enforcement training their guns (including what appears to be an assault rifle) on three Black teenagers while bystanders plead with police, telling them that they are threatening the wrong people. In the video, which takes place in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles outside of Los Angeles, a law enforcement officer can be seen telling the crowd gathered to back up while he holds his rifle trained on teens standing at a bus stop. The teens have their hands up, and one teen has been moved to his knees in front of the police car.
Most striking is that more than a handful of onlookers plead with law enforcement to put down their guns, telling them they have the whole thing mixed up. TMZ reports that a mother of one of the teens told the outlet that the kids were sitting at a bus stop when an unhoused individual came up to them asking for drugs and then getting very aggressive, pulling off his shirt and attacking them with a knife. The kids reportedly fended their attacker off with their skateboards. The LA County Sheriff’s Dept. told TMZ that the reason the police were treating the teens this way was because they were responding to a call of “2 adult males hitting another man with a skateboard.” The deadly weapon that the police were training multiple guns on the kids for was their skateboard.
