Guest slams Liberal professor supporting SCOTUS nominee 'defend member of a very fancy elite club'

This professor is the prototypical Liberal elitist that continuously fails the Progressive movement. His support for Trump’s SCOTUS nominee was summarily ridiculed by Journalist Emily Bazelon, if even in a disguised manner.

The lack of empathy does not exist solely on the Right. Worse is when it comes bearing a privileged twitch.

Fareed Zakaria challenged an article by Noah Feldman titled “Amy Coney Barrett Deserves to Be on the Supreme Court” where he wrote:

I disagree with much of her judicial philosophy and expect to disagree with many, maybe even most of her future votes and opinions. Yet despite this disagreement, I know her to be a brilliant and conscientious lawyer who will analyze and decide cases in good faith, applying the jurisprudential principles to which she is committed. Those are the basic criteria for being a good justice. Barrett meets and exceeds them.

While that may be true, Feldman would have to be naive to believe there is anything more principled about good Supreme Court Justices from good politicians who care about the country on their terms. There is no innate superiority in intellect or morals that one should afford over a Supreme Court Justice vs. a politician. Hell, after all, SCOTUS is this body that upheld some of the most draconian and immoral laws of this country.

Emily Bazelon did not buy into Feldman’s lack of peripheral vision. She made a most profound statement.

“When I listen to Noah talk about clerking with her,” Emily Bazelon said. “It’s like hearing about someone defend a member of a very fancy elite club rather than thinking about what Emily Barrett is actually going to do.”

And that is it. There are no real policies that Barrett may pass that will likely have a material impact on Noah’s life. For millions of women who feel they will lose control of their bodies, for millions of Americans who know they could lose their healthcare, they don’t have the privilege to be esoteric in their thoughts. They need those who will stand up for them.
