Rep. Jim Clyburn admonished Republicans as he demanded that they tell the truth of the election to stop those who would hurt the country.
Clyburn hits the nail on the head.
Clyburn told it like it is.
“Why would you have to pay people, to tell the truth?” Clyburn asked. “I don’t understand that. My Republican colleagues have a responsibility to this country’s stability, to tell the truth. Stop lying about this election. They know full well this election was not stolen. They know full well this was one of their own, was in charge and he had said it was the most secure election in the history of the country. And I feel that having been subjected to bad elections in the past, this was not one of them. And so I think that they are incumbent, from their duties, from the offices they hold, to use their soapbox to tell people the truth and stop this lying. I don’t know what the benefit is.”
He would then called them out in no uncertain terms.
This is Martin Luther King Jr.’s weekend birthday,” Clyburn continued. “This is the weekend that we celebrate his birthday. And Martin Luther King Jr. told us in his letter from the Birmingham City Jail that he was coming to the conclusion that the people of ill will in our society make a much better use of time than the people of goodwill and it’s time for the people of goodwill to stop being complicit. Stop being silent. Silence gives consent. When you be silent about stuff like this you are consenting. And King concluded his thought in that letter saying that we are going to be made to repent. And not just for the vitriolic words and deeds of bad people but for the appalling silence of good people. I plead to the good people in the Republican Party to the good people in this country, break your silence don’t let this country come apart based upon a lie.”
