Pallbearers for Cruz released the following statement.

(1/19/21) Houston – This morning we placed three coffins on the yard of Texas Senator Ted Cruz. One represents the damage done to American democracy by his violation of his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. Cruz has instead lied about electoral irregularities and proposed a solution that would reject certification of the votes of Americans; a power not given by the Constitution.

These lies and violations of constitutional order fed the fire of extremists who on January 6th attacked the Capitol in an effort to stop the peaceful transfer of power. The second coffin mourns the victims of this violence and Cruz’s culpability. Cruz’s lies cost lives.

The final coffin is for Ted Cruz’s career. Ted Cruz was elected to office as a ‘constitutional conservative’ and has broken his oath to defend the constitution to pander to his base. His lies have cost American lives. It is time for Ted Cruz to retire and allow someone who will defend the constitution to represent the State of Texas.

Today, Ted Cruz should resign.

This was just the latest pressure being applied to Ted Cruz as people from all facets demanded that the inciting sedition, Ted Cruz, resign. The Houston Chronicle, a newspaper that would never be confused for a Liberal or Progressive rag, posted an article titled “Resign, Senator Cruz. Your lies cost lives” that everyone should read.

In Texas, we have our share of politicians who peddle wild conspiracy theories and reckless rhetoric aiming to inflame. Think U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert’s “terror baby” diatribes or his nonsensical vow not to wear a face mask until after he got COVID, which he promptly did. This editorial board tries to hold such shameful specimens to account.

But we reserve special condemnation for the perpetrators among them who are of sound mind and considerable intellect — those who should damn well know better. None more than U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.

A brilliant and frequent advocate before the U.S. Supreme Court and a former Texas solicitor general, Cruz knew exactly what he was doing, what he was risking and who he was inciting as he stood on the Senate floor Wednesday and passionately fed the farce of election fraud even as a seething crowd of believers was being whipped up by President Donald Trump a short distance away. Cruz, it should also be noted, knew exactly whose presidency he was defending. That of a man he called in 2016 a “narcissist,” a “pathological liar” and “utterly amoral.”

Americans must not forget that Republicans incited an unpatriotic seditious insurrection that killed 5 people and vandalized the Capitol. Moreover, there is a suggestion that the domestic terrorists were willing to kill Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Former Vice President Mike Pence. The President and complicit politicians must pay the price and get kicked out of politics.
