Roland Martin slams Evangelicals' Matt Gaetz silence on Cross Connection: "They're fake Christians."

Roland Martin did not mince his words as he justifiably went after Evangelical Christian leaders on The Cross Connection with Tiffany Cross.

“Let’s just go to church,” Roland Martin said. “Where are you at, Robert Jeffress? Where you at Ralph Reed? Where are you, Franklin Graham? Where are you, Paula White? Where are all of you White Conservative Evangelicals who love talking about morality and principles and family and values? How are you saying nothing? Y’all were all running your mouths when congressman John Conyers, the late congressman, was accused of sexual harassment. You were running your mouths when senator Al Franken was accused of the same thing. But now, all of a sudden, you’re quiet.”

Martin pointed out how depraved Gaetz’s behavior was as he paraded pictures on his phone for his fellow congresspersons to view. He said it is the perfect illustration of the hypocrisy of Evangelical Christians. He also called out Fox News for ignoring the story even as they had Matt Gartz on over 20 times in March. Not until recently did Fox News’ Bret Baier cover the story.

He then admonished the Evangelical Christian leaders.

“This shows you how fake and how much of a joke they are when it comes to family values,” Martin said. “You are not the party of family values. You are not the party of the working class. You are silent and quiet, and that’s why they can’t say anything about any future Democrat or anybody else because of their shameful behavior. They’re Fake Christians.”

But it is much deeper than just their silence about the Matt Gaetz scandal. Evangelical Christians have been on the wrong side of policies that support people. To support Republican Orthodoxy is unarguably anti-Christian behavior. After all, the good deeds towards humanity that Jesus stood for are anathema to what the Republicans and Evangelical Christian leadership stand for.
