Joe Biden got a question from a reporter that has more than international notions but domestic as well. His response was on point; so far.
Joe Biden shuts down a reporter?
Joe Biden was done with his news conference at the G7. A reporter started shouting a question as he left. Biden turned around implying he would get in trouble with his staff but decided to take the question anyway.
“You have often said repeatedly that America is back,” the reporter stated. “At the same time, you have kept in place some Trump-era steel and aluminum sanctions. I wanted to ask you when you are having these conversations with your European allies, who are very concerned about these sanctions, how do you justify that? And what are your plans?”
Before the reporter could even finish the sentence, Biden had an answer.
“One hundred and twenty days,” Biden responded, “Gimme a break. I need time.”
That answer works and is a responsible answer to give now. Biden has definitely earned some goodwill domestically with the scope of the American Rescue Plan. While we will trust those words in the short term, we must keep the pressure on for the values America needs. After all, water always flows through the path of least resistance.
