Joe Biden did mince his words as he really snapped at a reporter for misrepresenting what he said and asking a silly question.
Joe Biden snaps back at reporter
As Joe Biden was walking out of his press conference, a reporter asked him a silly question. She likely did not expect as strong of the pushback from the president.
”Why are you so confident he will change his behavior, Mr. President,” the reporter asked.
To be clear, there was never a point in the president’s press conference where he expressed any confidence in Putin’s change in behavior. In fact, he made it clear throughout that we would have to see over time. He wanted a face-to-face meeting because he believes that is the most effective manner to let one know your parameters.
“I am not confident he will change his behavior,” Biden snapped back. “Where the hell? What do you do all of the time? When did I say I was confident?”
The reporter then pointed out what he said, which in fact showed no confidence but instead a wait-and-see attitude.
“You said in the next six months,” the reporter replied. “You will be able to determine.”
“I said, look, let’s get it straight,” the President said. “I said what will change their behavior is how the rest of the world reacts to them when they diminish their standing in the world. I am not confident of anything. I am just stating the facts.”
The reporter continued to show her incompetence.
“Given that his past behavior has not changed,” the reporter continued. “In that press conference, after sitting down with you for several hours with you, he denied any involvement in cyberattacks. He downplayed human rights abuses. He even refused to say Alexei Navalny’s name. So how do that account to a constructive meeting as President Putin …”
“If you don’t understand that,” Biden lashed back. “You are in the wrong business.”
And he is absolutely correct.
