The Harsh Facts about Climate Change That We Would Prefer to Ignore

TRUTH report for the day is about climate change.

by Rose Williams

After decades of denial, even developed countries in temperate zones are starting to see the negative results of climate change.

Global warming, as predicted, has had obvious and deleterious consequences in equatorial nations for decades. Record temperatures, desertification, ecological collapse.

However, in temperate zones, local weather has been characterized more by increasing numbers of extreme weather events, rather than necessarily ‘warm’ weather events. Many not familiar with the details of the predictive climate model backed by scientists doubt these dire forecasts since what is happening locally doesn’t match their understanding of what global warming means.

Like most things, the devil is in the details, and that is what’s missing in most sound bites. In my opinion, invoking the mantra of ‘global warming’ has distorted ordinary folks’ interpretation of what they see happening weatherwise across our nation, and has done a great disservice to climate scientists — who are proving daily that they really know what they’re talking about.

Climate Change end game?

Global warming only describes the ‘end game’ of the direction in which global climate is going. There are lots of steps from going to what we think of as the ‘normal climate’ of yesteryear, and end-stage global warming (which like end-stage cancer is incurable). For temperate zones, these intermediate steps would be described as more of a ‘global weirding’ (at least where we are concerned), than global warming. By the time temperate zones start experiencing consistent, unyielding global warming, we will in all probability have gone beyond the point of no return.

For those familiar with the stages projected in the global warming models, we are rapidly accelerating through the intermediate steps. What’s worse is that doing so has confirmed the accuracy of the scientific modeling so far. About the only thing in doubt now is how long we can afford to keep our collective heads in the sand before disaster becomes inevitable. We are literally hurtling towards a global catastrophe. Please, please wake up!
