Shortly after the jobs report, President Biden held a press briefing where he gave a well-designed economic message for the country.
Biden gave a strong economic message as he taunted Trump
President Biden’s speech was constructed just as it should. First of all, the president acknowledged that the jobs report, while not as strong as expected, is a building block of what has occurred before and what is to come. The average job creation is over 700K per month under his administration.
Why did I find the speech well-designed? Here are my thoughts.
- The president identified various specifics about the social infrastructure bill and how it will help someone. Providing family leave allows one to take care of a sick parent. Providing childcare enables one to go to the job of their choice.
- He points out how good the Stock Market is doing but made sure to let the average American know it is not indicative of the condition of the poor and middle-class. He then used it to mock Trump to highlight the point.
- He pointed out that while Americans were suffering during the pandemic, the plutocrats were creating more billionaires on the backs of us all.
- He made it clear that no one making less than $400,000 will have a tax increase.
- He pointed out that the top 1% owes over $100 billion a year in taxes.
- He pointed out that there is no need to feel sorry about “socking it to the rich” as they will still have their 3 homes and millions and billions. Most importantly, the taxes they did not pay hurt all of us economically.
I like that this administration so far has not let the Right define the President (for things he really cares about). One hopes they keep that up and add an impetus for voter rights, criminal justice, and abortion rights.
