Red State Senator Jon Tester shows precisely how one sells progressive policies even in a deep red state like Montana.
Red State Senator Jon Tester shows it is easy
Democratic Senator Jon Tester understands a fundamental concept. Tell your constituents what you will and are doing for them.
“It deals with infrastructure, like roads and bridges and water systems and electrical transmission and broadband,” Tester said. “It’s a big bill. It’s the biggest investment infrastructure ever in this country, and it’s going to do some great things for Montana. It’s going to help us push our economy forward and reduce the cost of doing business. So it’s a very good bill. It was, I helped negotiate it over eight months, and it’s good to see it get signed into law. Now we’ll be looking forward to the projects when they hit the ground here in Montana.
Test said all the right things concisely that one can digest quickly.
- He first identifies how the bill will help his constituents.
- He copped to it being a necessarily big bill.
- He makes it clear it will enhance his state’s economy and help businesses as well.
- He leans into the bill making it clear his constituents’ senator helped negotiate it so they are covered.
This Senator from a very red state is leaning into the bill. And so far, he supports the human infrastructure bill, the Build Back Better bill.
