Democrats all-in-all have good policies. After a caller enumerated them, I pointed out a few failed issues.
Democrats policies are best
I have a very interactive listenership on Politics Done Right. Every so often, I like to expand on comments. One of my dedicated commenters sent wrote the following.
Michael Rudnin: President Biden’s report card: 1 year in, accomplishments and stalled priorities completed or … The president grappled with COVID, the economy, climate change, and more. // Taking a quick look at what Joe Biden has achieved and giving credit where credit is due: one-time $1400 stimulus checks, maintaining eviction moratoriums (until the conservative Supreme Court scrapped them), pushing science-based approaches to counter the pandemic (vaccines, mask-wearing, testing), foreign policy restoring global approval, the low unemployment rate during a pandemic, appointed 40+ federal judges, withdrawing from Afghanistan (yes I see ending war and our occupation of a foreign nation as a positive), passing Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (the law injects federal money into America’s aging public-works system to repair roads and bridges, renovate ports, and expand broadband access, as well as replace every lead pipe in the US.)
Later another commenter would complain about the speed and robustness of sending masks and building tests. I pointed out a sad reality. Too many moderate Democrats suffer from the fear of Republicans looking at every move to criticize. The thing is, Republican politicians will attack and lie about Democratic policies irrespective of what they do. As such, Democrats should do the best for Americans even if they err on going a bit overboard. They should not dear being tagged as wasteful. Being wasteful with pandemic solutions is more humane than wasteful military equipment we are sure will never get used nor serve as some deterrent.
I can imagine the Biden Administration’s fear of stocking up on masks and tests if the pandemic were to come to an abrupt end. Republicans would turn it into a tax-and-spend critique. Their false narrative should not have mattered. Democrats could have used the critique to launch an effective attack. But sadly, the needed killer instinct is still being developed by Progressives while under duress from both moderate Democrats and Republicans.
