Mehdi Hasan pointed out that the economy was doing quite well, yet the President’s poll numbers are low.

“The U.S. economy saw sizable growth in the fourth quarter of last year that caps off the strongest year of economic growth in nearly four decades,” Mehdi Hasan said. “Yet voters remain pessimistic about the economy.”

Hasan then asked Jen Psaki about her frustration that the polls do not reflect the good news about the economy. “Is it a messaging problem,” he asked.

Her response was exactly the narrative she needed to get out.

“COVID challenge, Mehdi,” Psaki said. “I mean, look, I think we can celebrate, and I know you just talked a little bit about this. The fact that we haven’t had this kind of economic growth in 37 years, I mean, I was in preschool at that point in time. That’s exciting. We’re growing at a faster rate than China for the first time in 20 years. That’s good. We’re at record low unemployment rates. That’s good. What we also know, though, is that we’re still fighting a pandemic that is very much tied to inflation. It’s impacting issues like supply chain challenges we’re seeing around the world, and it’s impacting also the psyche of the American public.”

After stating a few other facts, she made sure to slam corporation exerting their corporate greed by raising prices because they can. They have pricing power.

“Businesses, big companies like meat manufacturers and conglomerates are taking advantage of this moment,” Psaki said. “And jacking up prices for consumers, so we also have to watch that.”

That last statement is important. Forget scary politicians that do not want to call our corporations. Many are corporate thugs who inflate prices because they can.
