It took long enough for Mike Pence to grow some, but finally, he told Donald Trump the truth about overturning the election. YOU ARE WRONG.
Did Mike Pence finally grow some …
Well, Mike Pence got a bunch of publicity at the expense of his former boss, Donald Trump. Does he deserve kudos for the following?
“I heard this week that President Trump said I had the right to overturn the election,” Mike Pence said. “But President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election. The presidency belongs to the American people and the American people alone. Frankly, there is no idea more unAmerican than the notion that any one person could choose the American president. The American people must know, as the bible says, that we’ll keep our oath even when it hurts.”
And then he had the nerve to finally say something about the January terrorist attack by his party on America.
“January 6 was a dark day in the history of the United States Capitol,” Pence said. “Lives were lost, and many were injured. I know we did our duty that day. If we lose faith in the Constitution, we won’t just lose elections; we’ll lose our country.”
Pence attempted to abstract the violence. It was not just an attack on the Capitol, Mr. Pence. It was an assault on America, all of America.
None of this should be new to Pence. In his days as Trump’s sycophant, one can be sure that the former vice-president knew what he was doing. He was waiting for the opportunity to have Trump catapult him to the presidency. He likely could not fathom the depravity of the president he served. I am not impressed. Nor should you.
