Senator Warner skewers Trump

Watch Politics Done Right T.V. here.

Before Chuck Todd interviewed Senator Mark Warner, he had a somewhat contentious interview with Senator Kevin Cramer, a Trump sycophant. The Senator tried to deflect Trump’s virtual treason with the media’s take on Joe Biden’s son in that interview. Chuck did not allow him to get away with the false equivalence. Senator Warner heard the interview and reacted. He was on the program to discuss something else but decided to address the subject thoroughly first.

“I think it is both despicable and pathetic that Donald Trump is out appealing to a war criminal, Vladimir Putin, when he is a war criminal against not only the people of Ukraine but against democracies around the world,” Senator Warner said. “His behavior is despicable and, again, pathetic. This is the same Donald Trump — And I remember when we brought together countries who had been attacked by Russia in misinformation, and we all gathered in Washington on the very day that Donald Trump met with Vladimir Putin in 2018 in Helsinki and was a total lapdog to Putin and basically sided with Putin over all of our American intelligence agencies. And it’s the same Donald Trump that basically would not provide Ukraine with defensive weapons for years because he wanted to extract a political promise from Zelensky to help him on his is getting dirt on Biden. So I know anyone that is defending Trump’s recent activities of appealing to Putin: I don’t know where you get off on that. My blood boils when I think about what Trump has done and a pattern that has continued literally for years.”

The Senator went out of his way to remind Trump’s sycophants how he betrayed the United States governmental agencies on international T.V. Chuck Todd wondered if censoring Trump (e.g., removal from Twitter and Facebook) was a double-edged sword. America does not get to see and experience his treasonous behavior in real-time. The consequence of that is that when he comes into the 2024 Republican primaries, he may look fresh to his low information audience. Todd ends the subsegment with a prescient statement.

“I don’t you know, ” Chuck Todd said. “There’s a lot of people in this country that are rightly outraged about a former German chancellor playing footsie with Putin. It’s outrageous when a former German chancellor does it, and that’s outrageous when a former U.S. president does it.”

The mainstream media, pundits, and politicians need to keep the focus on Trump’s treasonous behavior and his failed coup on the United States. We should also tag these behaviors to the scores of Republicans that will win their primaries. It is one of the strategies Democrats should use to win. After all, I am sure the biggest fear in the world is that America, a country most thought knew better, would elect a psychopathic autocrat once again.
