A reporter took exception to President Biden calling out the GOP branded Rick Scott tax hike. Jen Psaki destroyed her willful incompetence.
Jen Psaki made the incompetent reporter seem petty
Recently Rick Scott (R-FL), chair of the Senate Republicans’ Campaign Committee, released the GOP plan against the American middle-class. It is called the 11-Point Plan To Rescue America. It is a fact that it will raise taxes on millions of poor and middle-class Americans. The plan is a draconian plan on taxes and rights and social issues. Mitch McConnell has been running away from it, but the GOP Chair and many Ultra MAGA and generic Republicans do.
Recently President Joe Biden has been speaking out against the Republican plan. The White House reporters always come to the press conferences prepared with Republican talking points instead of exhibiting objectivity or independence. It was an incompetent reporter’s turn to defend the GOP in her attempt to call out Biden’s justifiable attack on the GOP’s attack on the poor and the middle-class.
“So today, the president said that a majority of Republicans have signed on to Senator Scott’s tax plan,” the incompetent reporter said. “That does not seem to be the case. Senator Scott said that today. McConnell had said that the party [is] not behind this. Are there any Republicans that you can think of or the president might be referencing that [is] currently behind this?”
Jen Psaki was ready for the question. She asked the reporter if Republican Committee Chair was a significant Republican. The reporter’s response was shocking for her ignorance.
“He is the chairman of a committee.” the reporter replied dismissively. “But if no other.”
Psaki first corrected her. The chairperson of the Republican Party is a woman. Her name is Ronna McDaniel. Psaki then proceeded to lay out the facts that the reporter was willfully ignorant of or, more likely, attempting to put the administration on the defensive.
“So Chairman Ronna Ronna McDaniel praised Senator Scott’s proposal as a, quote, clear payment plan for Republicans that offers, quote, real solutions,” Jen Psaki said. “She’s the chairwoman of the party. Rick Scott is not a random senator. He is literally in charge of winning back the Senate for Republicans and what the plan is. So he is the person who has put forward this plan.”
But Psaki was not done.
“Senator Ron Johnson has called the congressional GOP plan a, quote, positive thing,” Psaki continued. “Senator Mike Braun has said he was, quote, glad Rick did it. Senator Tommy Tuberville said he was, quote, on board with the congressional GOP plan. Congressman Matt Gates said he was, quote, proud of Senator Rick Scott for providing this bold agenda. So not only that, which seems to be quite a range of Republicans, but there isn’t an alternative plan they’ve put forward. So it’s either this put together by the person who is leading the effort to win back the Senate or nothing. And the president this morning talked about what his plan is.”
The White House press conference under President Biden has become a sham. It has turned into reporters seemingly fed with Republican talking points. Many of us in the Progressive space understand why most Americans, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike, prefer what they offer. Those who rule the press, aka the corporatocracy, must attempt reality from taking hold.
