Economist Larry Summers called out Banana Republicans for causing much of America’s economic problems, including inflation.
Banana Republicans?
Economist Larry Summers appeared on CNN’s State of the Union with Dana Bash. They discussed several issues, including his belief that we may be headed to a recession in the next two years. I won’t discuss his statements over the months about inflation which in effect gives corporations, the ones with pricing power, a pass. I must leave it for another post.
Suffice it to say that the one thing that Larry Summers got right is the responsibility that MAGA Republicans must be held to account for our economic woes because of their intransigence.
“I think the banana Republicans who are saying that what happened on January 6th was nothing or OK are undermining the basic credibility of our country’s institutions,” Larry Summers said. “And that in turn feeds through for inflation because if you can’t trust the country’s government, why should you trust its money? So I think it’s terribly important that we take the temperature down in Washington, that we recognize behavior that’s just out of bounds of reasonable indecency.”
It is incumbent on Democrats to change the narrative. They need to get on the offensive and assign blame as Larry Summers did for the effect MAGA Republicans and cowardly Republicans are having on our economy. Turn the tables on them now before it’s too late to change Americans’ minds.
