We stop a Right Winger in his tracks as he attempts to lie about crime relative to guns

Guns manufacturers ensure that their sycophants have false data readily available to Americans.

Stop believing lies about guns.

Watch Politics Done Right T.V. here.

A Right-Wing listener of our program attempted to use our public chat to spread disinformation about guns. Often I ignore them because we can swat the fly away throughout our commentary. But I always push back for the sake of our podcasts and blogs to ensure we refute the dangerous misinformation immediately and succinctly.

The user repeated the following Right-Wing lie.

“In every single state and country outside the U. S. that have strict or outright bans,” the listener wrote. “Have higher violent crimes than states in the U. S. that have lower restrictions on guns.”

That statement is an outright lie that is not difficult to refute. Another listener immediately provided some fact-based information from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Among 64 high-income countries and territories, the United States stands out for its high levels of gun violence. The US ranks eighth out of 64 for homicides by firearm (age-adjusted). Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, two US territories, rank first and third on that list. Firearm injuries tend to be more frequent in places where people have easy access to firearms, according to findings from the 2018 Global Burden of Disease study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

The following graphs are probative.

We must not allow the misinformation to cauterize in the minds of Americans. Uvalde proved that nearly 400 good guys with guns did not give them any courage with a kid armed with a weapon of war, an AR-15.
