Politics Done Right has been stating for some time that the 2022 midterm is not in the bag for Republicans. It is now trending Democratic.
Trending Democratic
What comes first, the chicken or the egg? I ask for one specific reason. The media have been trying to preempt the 2022 election as they do too often. Their narrative is that the Democratic ticket will lose big in 2022.
I never believed that narrative. But they can become self-fulfilling prophecies. Why? Because Democratic and Progressive voters who would otherwise vote will stay home.
Seeing this MSNBC host shockingly change the song too many have been singing was refreshing.
“The new evidence today that the predictions of a Democratic wipeout in November’s election may have been premature,” the MSNBC host said. “Seismic events from abortion bans to fallout from the January 6th revelations could very well be shifting some political headwinds. A growing number of analysts now believe the Senate, at least, could stay in Democratic hands, and pointedly in Texas, a recent poll shows that O’Rourke has cut Governor Greg Abbott’s one formidable lead to just five points.”
And one just needs to see how an engaging Democrat campaigns in Texas. Beto O’Rourke is not just talking to the choir but expanding his reach as he did with a Republican who never voted for a Democrat but will vote blue in November. Republicans have absolutely nothing to offer to make the lives of Americans better. For them, it is all about power, domination, and establishing a Taliban-like society under the facade of Evangelical Christianity. If Democrats and Progressives continue to expose that and explain the alternative they have been trying to offer and blocked by Republicans and neoliberal Democrats, they will win.
But the host had another comment that made it clear that even the money people are hedging.
“Financial filings also show that O’Rourke has set a state fundraising record, bringing in over $27 million from February to June,” the host said. “Actually smash his previous record.”
This Democratic reality is not happening solely in Texas. One sees it in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and elsewhere. So if Democrats hit the pavement, disregard elitist consultants that would not know the average American if they bumped into them, and tell people what they intend to do when elected or re-elected, it won’t only be about holding on but gaining. The 2022 Election is there for the Democrats and Progressives to win.
