We had spoken about no Red Wave on Politics Done Right even before it was vogue. We have been saying that this election is there for Democrats to win. But there is much more to this win than meets the eyes.
Democrats will more than stifle the Red Wave.
As political pundits and the mainstream media attempted to will a Red Wave purportedly based on history, many of us balked. They would stress that the only two times in recent history that the party in power did not lose were during exceptional events.
Of course, they were referring to George W. Bush during the Iraq war in 2002 and Republicans overplaying the Lewinsky scandal with Clinton in 1998. Why is it so difficult for the media to see 2022 as those events on steroids?
A large percentage of Republicans are supporting a president whose enumerated actions most Americans find despicable.
- The Congressional hearings exposed the details of the January 6th coup.
- The party supports a president holding Top Secret documents that he may use treasonously.
- The party that refuses to vote for any policy Americans need now is beatable, given the pandemic, inflation, and more.
- The party embraces the most violent form of fascism with its connections to the Proud Boys, 3 Percenters, and others.
- A party whose leaders embrace QAnon.
- A party that takes away a woman’s agency in her own body by making abortion illegal.
One could go on and on. Losing is next to impossible when one frames these evils in every district, particularly to most of the constituents in blue and swing districts.
We could have framed the appropriate narrative and messages months ago. But as usual, too often, Democrats bring a knife to a gunfight. President Joe Biden may have gotten the telegram. He is out there fearlessly putting the MAGA Republicans on the defensive.
It is refreshing not allowing Republicans to put Democrats on the defensive for creating policies that help poor and middle-class people. If Democrats keep on this trajectory, they cannot lose. People will run to the polls to protect themselves and ensure they get bread and butter policies.
