This segment shows media negligence undermining Americans, giving MAGA Republican lies a platform.

Andrea Mitchell and her panel report as if Americans are dumb. Unfortunately, the ignorance they report is due to their derelictions, the mainstream media.

The media negligence continues.

Anyone watching some of the segments on Morning Joe this morning would have likely gotten a sense of dread about the possibility that MAGA Republicans would win several seats. Worse, the midterm polls are tightening, as expected. Democratic Senate candidates like Wisconsin’s Mandela Barnes have fallen from several points ahead to a point or two behind.

There are many reasons why MAGA Republicans can be attractive to some in difficult times. And it has to do with outdated media and the rules of unbiased media. Republicans are much better at exploiting it than Democrats and Progressives. This segment with Andrea Mitchell’s panel is a perfect example.

First, the facts. Gasoline prices are up not because of shortages but because oil companies have pricing power. Gasoline demand has not dropped substantially, even with higher prices, because people still have money in their pockets and credit. And, BTW, every station had ample gasoline to sell. The price hikes are a fraud from the corporatocracy with absolute pricing power.

Our inflation is largely manufactured by a few who have pricing power. There is ample supply to meet demand, and the price hikes are, in effect, legalized theft.

The Fed hiking interest rates are effectively penalizing the poor for the failure of the private sector that has been given the right to extort Americans at will. Higher interest rates effectively force the middle class and the poor to bear the burden of coercing those with pricing power to stop inflation. Our economic system is a fraud on the American people.

Instead of being the fourth estate that one can depend on to get through obfuscations by corporations and corporate-bought politicians, these journalists on this panel fall into timidly reporting Americans acting on lies.

The segment seems to assume that Americans are dumb. Russia, Saudi Arabia, and OPEC are trying to influence our election by announcing that they will take oil off the market to increase oil prices (manufactured inflation). The panel failed to provide context to Americans.

But the statement that got me was when one of the panelists said that Americans believe the economy does better under Republicans. That belief may be true but is a false “feeling.” Comprehensive studies show that the economy does much better when under Democratic control. And it isn’t some statistical anomaly. Instead of following up by telling Americans the truth, she just let it hang out there. As I point out in my book “As I See It: Class Warfare The Only Resort To Right Wing Doom,” the Reagan revolution was a Keynesian fraud. More importantly, it was Democrat Bill Clinton who had the largest job creation while balancing the budget.

Journalism cannot continue to use the old-school notion of “this side said this, that side said that.” Republicans have gamed that form of journalism by turning it into their own delivery of propaganda. ALL journalists have got to do their research and inform the American people.
