Crime Oklahoma Gov. mocked challenger for stating crime in OK greater than NY & California. She's right!

Democrats need to hammer the truth in a digestible manner. A High crime rate is caused by Republican policy, which shows in their higher crime rates. Republican policies cause high crime rates.

Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough discussed Republicans’ concentration on crime. It should be noted that overall, the rate is going down, but gun violence is increasing.

The increase in gun violence, however, is apparent. As Governor Gaven Newsom said recently, one needs to tag Republicans for their gun-crime-enhancing policies. Here are some inconvenient truths for Republicans. Democrats must go on the offensive as Swalwell has. American Progress points out the following.

The rising violent crime rates over the past two years is a major issue that elected officials must address immediately. While many have blamed the criminal justice reform movement for the rise in violent crime, the fact is that these increases in violent crime can largely be attributed to an alarming escalation in gun violence. If elected officials are serious about stopping violent crime, they need to prioritize and support stronger gun laws.

Joy Hofmeister, the Democratic challenger to Republican Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, challenged him with a few inconvenient facts.

“So let’s talk about facts,” said Joy Hofmeister, the Oklahoma superintendent of public instruction. “The fact is, the rates of violent crime are higher in Oklahoma under your watch than in New York or California.” “That’s a fact.”

The seemingly biased audience chuckled as Stitt asked the audience if they really believed what Hofmeister was saying. Even the moderator chimed in.

“We’ll have that fact-checked by the Frontier,” said the moderator, Tres Savage, in his attempt to defend the governor.

Of course, challenger Joy Hofmeister was correct. As reported by the Washington Post,

What was not shown at the debate was that Hofmeister was correct. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Oklahoma has a homicide rate of 9 deaths per 100,000, compared with California’s rate of 6.1 and New York’s rate of 4.7. ..

The exchange quickly spread on social media, with many viewers pointing out that a quick fact check would have revealed Hofmeister was accurate. The attention on the debate also highlighted what polls have shown to be a tight race between Hofmeister and Stitt — unusual in a red state that former president Donald Trump won by 33 points in 2020.

Democrats must take the crime’s message to Republicans. After all, Republican policies are a clear and present danger to their lives.
